To meet the state of Ohio’s hour requirement of 910 total seat hours as a participant of the SWL Digital Academy, students must be actively engaged in all courses throughout the week. As part of that hours requirement, the district will monitor seat time through Edgenuity LMS. Students will also be required to complete and turn in guided notes from each lesson within each core subject and elective course that offers guided notes. Unit post-tests will not be unlocked until the guided notes are completed and turned in. Students will be able to work ahead as long as they are still turning in each lesson’s guided notes prior to moving on within the unit.
SWL Digital Academy students are granted the same holiday breaks as any student who attends Southwest Licking Local Schools. Although work is not required during these non-instructional breaks, it is in the best interest of the student to work if they are behind on their weekly coursework. This also applies to “snow days” due to inclement weather.
Students will be held to the attendance statutes established in accordance with state law and Ohio Revised Code. If students are not meeting these expectations, the district’s attendance officer will begin an investigation into truancy. Based on the investigation results, the district may make referrals to the Licking County juvenile court and could refuse to provide a student with a work permit. If a work permit has been issued, the permit may be revoked.
